K.E.W. for Peace
Life-Long Education People Grow. If they are young they grow very fast. The pulse of their growth relative to the pulse of those who are older is faster.
The pace at which a person grows cannot be forced or hindered without falsifying his growth. People grow as functioning beings. There is no way people can grow in fragments and atoms of themselves. People are open growth systems, open to absorb, open to influence the growth around them.
Growing organisms change. What remains constant is the Self, the organism is, but the Self's constancy is achieved because the self too can change. Because the self changes, it belongs with the organism and is not, therefore, sloughed off and discarded. As persons absorb and release energies they grow; as they grow and function they change.
The particular change that leads in the direction of education is what is here called learning; change ourselves, of how we are changing and being changed. The greatest question which Man faces in the years to come is the question of how much change the human being can accept, absorb and assimilate and the rate at which he can take it. Can he leave the static ways and guide lines which have dominated all of his history and adopt the process ways, the continual changingness which must be his if he is to survive?
Peace and Motor Bike Fixing
I think that if we are going to reform the world, and, make it a better place to live in, the way to do it is not with talk about relationships of a political nature, which are inevitably dualistic, full of subjects and objects and their relationship to one another, or with programs full of things for other people to do, the place to improve the world is first in one's own heart and head and hands, and then work outward from there. Other people can talk about how to expand the destiny of mankind.
I just want to talk about how to fix a motorcycle. I think that what I have to say has more lasting value.
